As of today, PickupBird — the Shopify pickup point app built by the Digiloop agency — can be installed in Romanian Shopify stores with local carriers already connected: Sameday (easybox and SAMEDAY point), FAN Courier, Cargus, GLS, DPD and Packeta.
Short version: if your only way of offering Romania pickup point collection so far was the order notes field and a lot of goodwill, that’s over.
What this actually means?
From your side it looks like this. You install the app from the Shopify App Store, connect the carriers you already work with, and switch on the map. From then on:
- Your customer sees Romanian pickup points on an interactive map — in the cart, at checkout, or on the thank you page.
- Two clicks and they’ve selected the easybox closest to them.
- The point code lands in the order automatically. You don’t retype it, you don’t guess it, you don’t go hunting for it on the carrier’s map.
- The shipping label is created and printed from the same screen — one by one, or 40 at a time.
No developer, no code, and no need to tell your customer to “put it in the notes, where you want it delivered”.
Why Romanian Pickup Points, and why now?
We’re not pointing at the map with our eyes closed. This market has already decided how it wants to receive parcels.
According to Sameday, the easybox network has passed 5,100 lockers, covers more than 700 localities, and has delivered 160 million parcels through them over seven years. The company’s October 2024 market research — a representative sample of the urban online-shopping population — produced two numbers worth taping to your monitor: 95% of respondents have used an easybox, and 58% choose it instead of home delivery.
Add the GLS ParcelShops, the DPD points, the FAN Courier and Cargus networks and Packeta’s lockers, and the conclusion writes itself. In Romania, pickup points collection isn’t an exotic shipping option. It’s the default behaviour — and a checkout without Romanian pickup points asks your customer to break their own habit.
Shopify, meanwhile, asks for a home address and a postcode. The gap between the two is usually called “a message in the order notes” — and that’s where your work begins.
What we fix, in the order it hurts
The morning minutes. The carrier’s map open on the second monitor, the “which easybox is the one next to Mega” game, the message to the customer, the code copied over into the label. Multiplied by your order count, every working day.
The returns. The parcel goes to the wrong locker, the customer doesn’t collect it, the carrier sends it back. You pay for the trip out, the trip back and the repacking — and if it was cash on delivery, you also lose revenue you’d already counted.
The order that never shows up in any report. Your customer gets to checkout, sees that the only option is home delivery between 9 and 6 while they’re at the office, and closes the tab. No note, no email. Gone. You never find out they existed.
Romanian pickup points aren’t a nice-to-have feature in this market. They’re competitive parity — the store two browser tabs away most likely already has them.

- Point list and map in checkout — requires a higher Shopify plan with Carrier Calculated Shipping (CCS) active. Check your plan, or message us, before you build on Romanian pickup points appearing in checkout.
On an entry-level plan? The cart map solves the same problem, one step earlier in the flow. Most stores start there.

Do I need a contract with the carrier?
Yes. The app displays the points and passes the orders through — the carrier does the shipping. You’ll need an account, and usually a contract, with Sameday, FAN Courier, Cargus, GLS, DPD or Packeta, plus the API credentials they give you.
Is PickupBird available in Romanian?
The customer-facing side — the map and the point list — is multilingual and appears in your store’s language, including Romanian. Support answers in English.
Will PickupBird slow my store down?
The map loads in the cart and in checkout, not on every product page. The app carries Built for Shopify status, which means it met Shopify’s performance and integration criteria.
What happens after the 7 days?
At the end of the 7-day trial period, the package you have already selected will continue and be billed or you can even cancel it.
